replace rear turn signal with bulb

hey guys so i just bought a beautiful black gxp 2008. what do you know within a week the rear turn signal goes out on the pass side. seems like the perfect opportunity to replace them with some leds! so i went to oreilleys and picked up some white leds and a resistor kit. when you unplug the turn signal it has a black wire brown wire and yellow wire. i assumed black was ground so hooked the resistor up to it. now my choices are brown or red for the poss side of the resistor. when no resistor is hooked up it doesnt really hyperflast it causes all lights to flash almost like hazzards are on. when i hooked it up to both the brown and the yellow same thing happened nothing changed. even tried the other resistor to see if maybe mine was bad. im completely thrown on what is going on, any ideas? i read somewhere that i may need to add a resistor the the front turn wire as well? thanks!
 


Also note that the other lights that flash don't flash as bright as the turn signals but still flash
 
Update when car is running just have hyper flash but tried wiring to yellow and to grey wires and nothing changes. Anyone have a wiring diagram
