removing resonator

Im wanting to remove the res on my 04 compg and put a straight pipe in but my thoughts are, should i just put the same size pipe coming from cat all the way back or should i get like a 2.5 or 3 inch pipe. Now this is only where the res is nowhere else, would it help my sound to go bigger there? like having a res without anything in it kind of, if you understand what i meen.

It would be kinda pointless, not sure how it would sound though. But if your planning on doing a downpipe in the future then making it the same size as that isn't a bad idea

i plan on headers as soon as i get some extra cash. I was just wondering if the echos give it a different sound or anything

the res has almost no restriction. your car will pick up some raspy sounds and some drone likely. if your res is rotted out, just replace it with a glass pack muffler. they cost 25 bucks in hand.

Please dont remove the resonator. It helps kill off a bunch of the rasp, and quite a bit of the drone our cars inherently have. If it's rotted out, do as scotty said, and just replace it with a glass-pack (cherry bomb, thrush, etc) with the longest, fattest one you can get.

You wont gain any performance from removing it. Better to save that money for the headers. You'll get a noticeable sound difference from just the headers.

i had it removed on my 2000, and on this one i can tell its been changed from stock but i dont know what it is, i cant hear my exaust for **** though and having the paddle shifters ide like to so i can hear when to shift rather than looking. The only thing i can hear is my intake and it just sounds like and electric car going down the road cus there is no exaust noise at all lol
