Removing firewall grommet???

In the past, I've managed to get my FP rewire poked threw and more recently inserted a 3/8 cable chase with 6 wires fed threw it. Now I need to get my WB harness fed threw the grommet as well. This time I really need to remove the grommet, slice and notch a hole large enough to house the harness.

How the heck do you get that *&^% grommet out of it's holder? I have the top half sort of removed, but the bottom half seems to be stuck. After hours of fighting with it, I had to walk away before I got mad and made a costly mistake.:(

For anyone else:

The grommet has two mounting tabs, one on the left and right side of the rectangle. I eventually saw these rubber ears and slit them with a razor blade. The grommet is out of the firewall, now it's time to do business.

Anyone that has tried this will know how actually temping the options you two comedians posted are.:th_lipssealed1::th_laugh-lol3:

All gauges are in and wires ran. Too tired now to screw with removing the bad O2 sensor that's been used as a WB bung plug. It seems to be stuck, but tomorrow is another day.:)
