Removing Engine and Tranny Together for Dummies Like Me (Write Up)

I've been working on my 99 GP GT on my "spare time". I started documenting what I did mostly because of the time lapse in working on it so I could remember what I did, but it turned more into a write up and I finished it as a write up.

To get to this point for me has been several weeks. You know... an hour here, 10 min there. So I don't know what the actual time would be to do this, probably in an afternoon or a day if you aren't that experienced with it (like me).

In any case, I hope it is useful to someone.

The PDF file is larger than the allowed size to attach. If there is a better way to get this file into the forums, please let me know. I can't guarantee how long the document will be at the link below.

DUDE!! I pride myself on being fairly meticulous and decent about documenting and detailing things. I just recently pulled out my engine and transmission over an extended period of time just like yourself (theres a thread on here somewhere where I documented the progress). But the document you put together is just beyond being good or well done. It is VERY nice work indeed.

You get a big thumbs up for this one, some reputation points and 5 star rating on the thread. I do hope that you continue the process when you put everything back together. What you have done so far is VERY impressive.

Hey thanks for the Kudos. By all means, put this doc where it will be most useful. I have gotten a lot from this and other forums, this is probably the least I can do to offer up some help to others.

I will be using this soon...along with some other write ups..so thanks

I hope, that with those kind of documenting skill, some detail here and there, we see a lot more of that from you if you have time. It was really well done. To be honest I would love nothing more than to have a team that could do high quality DVD How To's. I am all about documentation, details and how to's.

I grew up around racing, circle track (my mom raced as did most of her friends) and drag racing, funny cars mostly. But ask them for tricks of the trade and it was like you were pulling teeth. When I was out on my own and had questions about how to do things on cars Id ask, mainly professionals and again it was like pulling teeth. So many are afraid they loose something of themselves by sharing that information and nothing could be further from the truth. This is why I have such profound respect for people like Trannyman, Reptile, and many others here. They arent afraid to share what they know and realize that by doing so they dont loose anything.

I guess thats how my passion for how to's and documenting such things grew. There is nothing I know about cars that I have not learned from someone else and it makes no sense not to share that.

So to that end, I hope to see you around here a lot more and hope that as you do work on your car you too are encouraged to share what you have learned and pass it along.

I love documenting. If there was an easy way to get you guys my gasket how-to over at NAIOA, I would, but you have to be a member to view it.

Anyway, this is a great write up! I've saved it to my hard drive for future reference. Very well done. :D

Thanks guys.

SyntheticShield, I'm certainly not opposed to doing some more documentations or maybe even some DVDs. The hard thing about making DVDs is that one can either be too specific or too general. Meaning, you either make a general video that can't been too specific for most users to use with any car, or you make one that is detailed but specific to one type of car and few users. So deciding what subject to do it one would probably be hard. Of course, to do it just for the sake of sharing information will probably make the decision easier.

Secondly, I don't have much cash to do mods on my car so, any mods I do to my car will probably be few and far between and when most are sending their GPs to the Junk yard by the time I get to doing them.
