Remove paint off front bumper

Hey guys I need to remove the paint off my front bumper but it's plastic so I am not quite sure what to do. It already has some serious chipping due to a small accident so its coming off pretty nasty. Any tips would be much appreciated thanks. - Frank

I've used paint stripper on plastic before, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone because you have to do a tit load of sanding.

Yea I know but I'm tryingto save as much money as I can on the new paint job I'm getting and I know if I can strip this paint off it should save me some money right?

I wouldn't mess with the paint stripper. I would sand the spots that need to be heavly sanded; just to have a smooth transition between the damaged spot and the rest of the paint. Then sand the whole bumper with a finer grit sandpaper that wont leave sand scratch marks into the bumper. Then on the primer and paint. I striped the bumper on my 78 Monte and it was the biggest pain in my butt more of a mess than sanding. Especially would stay away from the stripper if the whole thing doesn't need to be stripped.

ive got one sitting on my balcony ive been getting fixed up, just sand it, i prefer wet sanding as it makes life easier.

well literally the entire paint is coming off on one section. Like who ever painted the car before did a bad job because it is literally just breaking off. I could show pictures if needed would that help guys?

throw some pics up.. but sanding will be best. you dont wanna risk messing up the plastic, and if its falling off then it should be easier lol just use a plastic putty knife to flake it off then sand the rest.

So what you guys think??? What should I do considering I am repainting the whole thing?

ok well quick question. Would I search for a bumper cover? The whole bumper assembly? Or what what actually is the bumper COVER because those are cheap compared to the assembly.

ok thanks. Junkyard near me has one for 50 bucks so just going to get that and then get the car painted. Thanks!
