Regal GS: Mod with performance package or piecemeal?

Hi all. I'm an older member who hasn't been here in forever.

I recently picked up a 98 Regal GS with 46,000 orig. miles and want to do some mods. After slowly wrapping my head around KR, tuning, parts and what not, I'm curious what would be a better way to mod the car?

Was looking at the Stage Performance Package Upgrades at 3800performance's website and see they offer a number of different packages from 1-6. I was looking at either 4 or 5. Is this a cheaper alternative to buying the parts separately? Or is my head in clouds because I assume the descriptions for each Stage are dead-on accurate and I just bolt everything up, tune the PCM in and happily enjoy my mid 13 second passes in the 1/4?

I'm not looking to spend yet but hopefully within the next month. What would you vets recommend I do? I would like to retain reliability and daily driveability when needed. The car isn't my DD right now but I'm thinking of rotating my DDs to keep the mileage of both cars (other being a Pontiac G8) down.

From the car's stock standpoint, everything is still good. Ran it through service and inspection and the only 'issue' are the rear rotors needing replacements soon. I'll check the mounts though.

This is a total noob question. Forgive me for not searching through the forum beforehand.

Cheers.

Every car is slightly different and keep that in mind when buying bolt on and canned parts. I'd probably suggest watching the various forum for sale threads and get better ideas what you can buy from where for the best prices. Then make your informed decision.

However, if you upgrade engine/trans and leave out the suspension, you'll be missing out on a ton of fun.

I would definitely upgrade suspension and brakes along with the engine / tranny.

Just trying to figure out a smart way to go about this. People always boast about how little they spend to get these cars into the mid 13s but I'm all for making the car run efficiently first and then any power gains are supplemental.

Also I'm all for purchasing quality parts that will help the drivetrain last longer. Just not sure if I begin with CAI / Headers / Exhaust or start elsewhere. Figured the package deals can steer me somewhat in the right direction.

Thanks for your assistance.

Bill here... That's kinda why I suggest reading up/browsing. Really get a good idea which way you want to go based on what you see from others with the info/experience/parts. Once you know that, you'll be better off to buy and find the right things for you.

I wanted F body brakes. Bought from a JY in FL for $60 shipped with all the hardware etc. Cleaned the calipers, painted them and added in rotors. Best brakes I've ever had. Other suspension stuff I went new.
