Hi everyone! I'm from Platteville, wisconsin, and I have been roaming these boards for helpful advice over the last few months. Just figured I should make the appropriate introduction.
ME:
I'm a student at UW-Platteville (Computer Science) and I really like to mess around with cars. Though I will admit I'm not 100% on my car knowlege, I do know some basics and how to turn a wrench. I have one year (hopefully) of school left and then it's on to bigger and better things
CAR:
I bought my '01 Grand Prix GT (Bright Red) just under a year ago from a central wisconsin dealer for around $5000 with 99,000 miles on her. The car was delivered with some minor flaws that I'm working on fixing--such as the rear quarter panel rust (minor) and a cracked driver-side mirror housing--but the car was in sound mechanical condition. Last winter, the Upper Intake Manifold gasket went out and I replaced the plenum.
Thereafter, I decided to chase some performance aspects of my car: Thrasher CAI, 180* Thermostat, Poly dogbone bushings, Autolite AP104s, and 10.3mm ZZP plug wires. This is all that my pocket has afforded thus far, but I have big plans for this car. I wish to top swap eventually (though probably not until after I complete my coursework) and add tranny upgrades. Also, I will hopefully be adding KYB AGX's and 12" drilled and slotted brakes to the mix.
Visually, she is mostly stock, but I have some plans to change that as well. I have repaired some rust patches and painted a few engine bay parts to spice up appearances under the hood. I also painted my brake calipers bright red today. In the future, I wish to paint my spoiler and mirrors the same as the front/rear bumper accents and eventually add some nice looking 18" rims.
My budget has thus far been limited by school (sorry if I ever sound like a cheapskate) and the fact that I really like to keep up on maintenance (won't run if you don't take car of it). We'll see what the future holds.
