Rear trailing arm bracket bolt broke!

Yeah T0ast

Das T0ast
I slid under the car yesterday to take a look at what's going to be needed to change out my rear trailing arms. I looked at the driver side bracket, and one of bolts is broken clean with the bracket. What do you guys think would be the best way on extracting that bolt out? I have left hand dril bits and more extractors then you can shake a stick at, so if that's the best way I guess that how I'll do it. I lifted up the seat and there doesn't seem to be a way to get to the back part/nutsert that I'm sure is in there. Thinking a little heat might help. Also, what's the chances of the other bolts probably being rotten to, to the point those too might break off soon? I'm thinking pretty high.
For anyone who has tackled this job; When you bought new bolts how, I'm assuming from a stealership, how much did they cost?
Thanks for any input.

Definitely heat it, it was rough for me to get mine out even with the head on it. How badly are yours rotten? Mine needed a breaker bar to crack the big bolts in the actual trailing arms loose, then an impact and a brass hammer to finish getting them out, and they weren't really even that bad. Otherwise an easy job

PB Blaster and heat. And there just may be enough left after you remove the bracket that you can grab on to. If not, maybe tack weld a nut to it if you can weld and back it out like normal.

I didn't think about welding a nut to it! I hate welding overhead, but I will do it. Do you think drilling a hole through the center will help? Kinda loosen the hold maybe.

I doubt it. I wouldn't want to weaken it further and risk it breaking off clean with the body. I'd bet with some PB, and maybe some heat that it will back out. Might even try and give it a few firm taps with a hammer to try and knock it loose. Try turning it both ways before you try to remove it. I've had many a stuck bolts thread in further, and then back out just by turning them back and forth bit by bit. When it gets too tight backing it out, turn it the other way and repeat.
