• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Got myself into a one thing leads to another deal with my 00 GTP.
Started with the input shaft breaking off in my torque convertor.

I didn't pay particular attention to how deep the rear main seal was set into the back cover plate. I put the new one in flush and mocked it up. I didn't like the dust seal was sitting on the chamfer of the crankshaft, so I tapped the seal in a little farther. I got the dust seal riding on the riding surface of the crank, hope the main part of the seal is riding right inside. Opinions from someone familiar with this particular installation? I'm sure it's fine, but you know how it goes.

You will be fine. With any luck, the ribs on the seal are riding on a fresh section of the crank versus riding in a worn in groove from the old seal.

I was kind of thinking that too, thanks for the backup. It would suck to be puking oil as tough as it is to do the transmission.
