Rattling felt (and heard) in steering when turning and going over bumps

I have a 2005 GTP. When I go over bumps and sometimes while turning I can feel and hear rattling in my steering. It sounds and feels like something is loose. It has been getting much worse over the past few weeks. I took it in to a service garage and was told my suspension was all tight and nothing was wrong. The only thing they noted was a slight creaking when I turn the wheel which they claim is an unfixable GM defect. Any input?
 


Go to a different garage if you hear/feel it and they don't, then you need someone that pays more attention. Also..there is no creaking GM defect.
 
this could be any number of things.
my most recient was an axle nut was backing off, all kinds of weird noises.
 
might be the intermediate steering shaft, which does have a GM defect. I posted a similar complaint here several months ago and someone pointed me in the right direction. There is an old thread on this topic if you can find it.
