RANT: Women, MiniVans, and Cellphones

As the subject clearly states. I know most everyone here has seen this combination before. More times than we care to admit, but it happens so much!!!

First off I will apologize to any women who drive MiniVans CORRECTLY and use their cellphones CORRECTLY when driving a Minivan.....

I degress......

Today driving to work on 270 here in St. Louis traffic is increasing due to the fact they have literally closed Hwy40/I64 through the City of St. Louis out to 270 and 40/64 into St. Louis County. Of course you are going to expect the extra load on the other highways around I64/40, but jesus the amount of new A%%hole mothers with minivans and cellphones has exploded this past week since the beginning of the closing.

There are mostly 4 lanes on 270 and upto 5 at certain stretches of it. But why on God's green earth do these idiots think that just cause they have a MiniVan they can just run you over and then have the nerve to look at you like you're the problem!?!?!?!?!??!?!!

I was in the next to fastest speed lane heading towards to 270/I44 interchange and onramp from I44 to 270. This woman, of course cellphone glued to hand and then glued to ear, arm propped up on the window sill, just plows right into my lane ALMOST taking off my front bumper. NO signal or anything. She just whips right over.

Of course being the nice guy I am I jam the SC and hit the speed lane to her left, I politely give her a thumbs up and a nice F*&& You smirk. She had the balls to flick me off!!!!!!! I was like WTF! You were the one who almost hit me!!!!!

I will admit I use my cellphone when I drive my car, and I smoke when I drive, but I have a headset for my cellphone so I can keep my hands on the wheel and stay alert to traffic and not all relaxed behind the wheel thinking I am on the couch. I mean what the heck!!!!

I wish there was ONE WHOLE DAY where ALL cellphones were shut off!! I want to see everyone go into a coma cause they cant text or talk while driving. The world be a quieter place for sure on that day!

Just my rant!

/rant off :)

To add to what you are saying, what I hate are the ones that get up in the morning, get ready and hop in the van and then get immediately on the phone or spend all day at work and leave and start up the vehicle and are immediately on the phone.

HELLO, what in the heck couldnt wait or you couldnt have called about in a SAFER environment while you were at home or work.

Just my addition to your rant. I see guys doing it from time to time, and it may just be my perception but it does seem to be pre-dominantly women.

Aye I would tend to agree, but I have seen my fair share of male arsehats in those nice jacked up 4x4's that plow through traffic as well, but at least they aren't on their cellphones lol. But women in MiniVans I really do honestly feel have this false sense of security that nothing will happen to them cause of the rolling crashtest dummy they are driving in.

I think cellphone use while driving is a bad idea anyway. Texting is just flat out stupid. The penalty for causing an accident while using a cell should be much more harsh than if you weren't. Lawyers? Are you listening?

It irks me to no end when an idiot who is clearly in the wrong gives the look like of WTF? Like the offended was the offender.

I guess what really irks me the most is people not taking responibility for their actions. What has this world come to?

Do not even get me started on this. I mean yeah, no one likes to be in the wrong and believe every decision is the right one but the reality is quite different. Yes there are consequences, but they are a whole lot easier to deal with when you own up to it and move on.

I almost got hit this morning. After the woman slammed on her breaks, I looked right at her and said you are f*n stupid! I knew she could read my lips. But, it was verified later that she did infact read my lips. I picked up the kids from school and my son said mom, did you almost get hit this morning? I had already dropped them off when that had happened. I said how did you know? He said My PE teacher said I think I almost hit your mom today. I think she said I was stupid. How funny!!! Aren't teachers supposed to be there earlier than the kids?
My mom is one of those minivan/cell phone crazies!! I tell her all the time, she would die without a cell phone. She also drives too slow. She dont even need a van. Her kids are grown. And she dont have to tote grandkids either.

shes PE......have half the classes as any other teacher.... they are just shy of being a guidance counsler...

I take exception to that, but perhaps it's where you live.

I agree SS. All full-time teachers have the same number of classes no matter what the subject is. The unions wouldn't allow it any other way!

The other morning, after a snowstorm, I was second at a red light. It was one of those intersections that briefly splits from 1 lane to 2 for more room. Well, because of the storm, the second lane was 1/2 covered by a snow bank. Along comes this little old lady in beat-to-**** Camry, climbing the side of the snow bank to try to get in front of me. When the light changes, she takes off and slides down the snow bank, almost hitting me! She then proceeds to do 20mph on a 35mph main road! I held my horn down for a block or two, motioning for her to go faster until she finally decide it was time to go the speed limit.

I dream of the day I can be self insured and can own an old raggity military 5-ton truck. There will be a rude pop quiz for some drivers. Like, whats the speed limit? Oh, you dont know, well let me show you by helping you reach it.

was she at least smiling when she gave you the finger, maybe she was from another country and thought it was a greeting? haha

When I was in MI I worked at the only appliance dealer in the town so I had to be careful what I did in the car, more than once I saw someone who cut me off come in to the store to buy something

I was driving into work one morning a couple years ago, and I was listening to a local talk radio show, on 97.1 I am sure you have heard of it Lee , anyways they had a comedian on and he was talking about the state of traffic in our country today.

He said that the US should hold a National Road Vengence Day. on NRVD anyone would who is driving like a special Olympics Champion has the right to be plowed off the road and any consquences of said actions would be "waived."

I was like..................HECK YEAH!.............Then I thought...........

I really dont think I would wanna be on the road that day, cause there is someone out there who thinks my crazy driving "good" driving is not good enough and then I would get plowed! So I rethought that decision :p

My dad always said not to get mad at other drivers for a mistake, because one day you will make a mistake too. He was right. It's rare:D but ithappens.

The habitual poor choice, or "do it all of the time" intentional jerk drivers, that's a different story.

oh and 97.1 FM's Dave Glover. I used to listen to his show every afternoon, but he became to flipnuthooker predictable. I do like the supernatural themed shows though.

So I drive a van and occasionally talk on my phone. But I am very alert as to my surroundings. I cannot stand to see someone (mostly dumb women on the cell driving a big @ss Suburban who do not need to be driving it) on the phone or just totally clueless as to what is going on around them.

Rant over....

No, no, no. What about the guy driving the little Honda leaned over the middle of the front seat, talking on his cell phone, bouncing around to whatever crap music he's listening to, and trying to gesticulate to the person he's talking to on the phone. Now, that guy should not have a license. Period.
