Raising Seat Height on Base Model 2005 GP

I have a base model 2005 Grand Prix with manual seats and the drive one is too low and gives me constant neck pain on the left side. Other than looking for an electric seat anyone used a method to raise it up? I was thinking maybe some washers or such under the back bolts since the front seem to slide into instead of bolt down with a longer bolt. Really love driving the car other than the pain it creates.

Otherwise going to try and find an electric seat for replacement asap.

Never did it, but it sounds reasonable.

Ever notice that since cars got smaller that the seat and steering wheel are not quite in line?

Not sure how much the rear bolts have engagement with the floor on that year but I'd be worried about spacing it out too far and then in the event of an accident the bolts would rip out.

Honestly I'd just look for a GT/GXP in the j-yard and snag the seats out of it so you know it'll fit and it's bolted down properly. The harness for power seats is likely under the carpet somewhere unless GM eliminated that part to save money.

If I can make GXP power seats work in my 00 GT then yours should be no problem . All I had to do was plug in a fuse and wallah, power seats.

The washer idea is worth a shot, but I don't think they will safely raise your seat to where you probably want to be. I remember on my '95 Grand Am I felt like I started sinking into the seat. Turns out the bottom padding was held in by a net made of nylon strings and a bunch snapped over the years. I wedged a piece of plywood between the bottom padding and the seat frame. It was more firm feeling, but still not rock hard and it was good till the day I got rid of the car. Maybe something similar is happening to yours?

I have '04 comp-G seats in my '99 GP and actually wish they would go slightly lower.

LouF, you have no idea how out of line the steering wheel and seats are till you get behind the wheel of a '92-98 GM N-body or first gen Colorado/Canyon/H3
