Radio won't make any sound (Fixed)

first off i am a new member to this site so please forgive me if im posting in the wrong section of the site. Secondly i have recently purchased a 2004 grand prix gt2, so far it is great, my car has the monsoon stereo system and it sounds great , until now that is. As i was driving down the road today the sound just randomly cut out , and i noticed that now when i turn the radio on instead of the display saying monsoon it now says Bose. i can only assume that it is trying to play my music through a Bose system (witch i don't have). The radio seems to work fine and plays cd's theres just no sound coming out of the speakers. I checked the fuse that is on the passenger side labeled (radio/amp) and it seems fine.is this something as simple as i pressed the wrong button or what? please let me know.

ive got the same radio and i dont think you can press a button to do that. and its highly weird that it says bose. sorry i cant help ya.

if u recently purchased it, you should have a small 10K or 3month FULL COVERAGE warrenty??? ...when i first got my GP i got a CD stuck in there with a label on it (obviously what caused it to stick) so i took the darn thing apart and ooops had some extra screws left...lol...so when i put it back in the radio thought there was still 6 cds in there, which i took 'em all out...ran right back to the dealer and got a new one, free

OK well i talked to a guy at a local dealer and he mentioned that it might be saying Bose because it isn't reading something so it doesn't know i have the monsoon and is reverting back to the Bose system(i am thinking the radio or something is made by Bose). Also i noticed that the door chimes for when you do things like: turn the headlights off when the car thinks they should be on and leave the key in the ignition when you open the drivers door , doesn't go off any more. This leads me to believe that it is the amp that is blown and that the radio is fine. Let me know if my analysis is flawed , so far that is the only thing that i could come up with. And i bought the car used btw.

upon start up of the radio this is displayed then it shows the radio station or w/e.

wow that is very odd...thnx for the pix, helps alot...possibly the amp...A long way around to check it, possibly straight wire a small speaker into one of the radio channels and see if the speaker plays...as long as everything is connected right, the speaker should play, if it doesn't either foul wiring or radio is bad... (hope you know alil something about audio)...I did this when I bought my aftermarket radio, had alil trouble getting it to play because of the factory amp.

well i plan on replacing the amp, hopefully that will fix it, ill post up my results.

just got the new amp a little wile ago (yes stock amp) i plugged it up and it still has the same problem, but i noticed that when i unplug the set of wires that have the tan back but leave the set with the teal back in the radio boots up saying monsoon ,still no sound though . This leads me to believe that something is wrong with one of the wires in the group, ill play around with it and see how it goes.

from your pictures it looks like you were fiddling with the rear amp, there are two amps in our models.

i've never seen it...somewhere in the dash, I only heard from my local audio store that there was a second it, if they're not mistaken...could try alittle research to be sure on this

well I'm not sure about the second amp yet and I don't think it is an issue with the radio but just in case how much do you want for your radio?

OK so I officially fixed it :th_peaceout:. after trying all kinds of stuff , I finally took the radio to a specialist to see if it was working correctly, witch it was. From there I figured out witch wire was bad ( purple one , b3 in the front a3 in the back). so i ran a new wire in its place through the car and it works great now.
