i think my steering has gotten looser in my 99' GTP i dint know if its all in my head or what. im new to working on steering and suspension and i was wondering if its possible if my rack and pinion is worn or maybe if its gone out im not sure please help

check your tie rods first, have a friend turn the wheels all the way to one side, so you can see the tie rod, and then with the car off, rock the steering wheel , look to see any slop in the connection. check both sides.

the outer tie rods are bad i have the parts and was planning on replacing them tomorrow everything else is good as far as i can tell, so that might be the problem? ill update tomorrow after i replace them to see if it got any better

when you take the old ones off, just crack the lock bolt, leave it on, put the new one up to the lock nut, tighten it up, go right to an alignment shop, you'll be close but not perfect.

chances are the steering wheel will be off to one side too, if you don't get an alignment.

the car already needs an alignment i was planning on doing that soon too but our alignment computer is down at the moment

alright we did the tie rod ends like 20min ago i havent driven it much its slightly better it might all be in my head though

it will feel all f'ed up till you get it aligned, may feel ok at 25 mph, but on the highway or hard braking, you will notice it dont feel right.

well the alignment computer is down right now so im gonna try doing it the old way....the long way, and grand prix's have pretty tight steering much better then most cars
