Racetronix 255lph Conversion

2003 SSEi

When you have a H body, but the need more fuel is life, you have to adapt.

To install most of the High Volume Pumps on the market, the conversion to venturi is needed. why, it fills the canister with fuel instead of relying on the level in the tank to fill the bucket. this keeps the Pump Cool at all times, even when your fuel level in the tank is really low.

Here are some pics of the buckets and the differences/similarities.

First off the make this work in the Bonneville, you need a complete canister assembly out of a Buick Park Ave L67, and it has to be a 99. There used to be a old write up along time ago from Tommy Glover on the swap but I think its gone.

Any way the 99 L67 PA bucket is Venturi, and is a direct swap in for the 00+ Bonneville, and will allow the use of the Racetronix Pump.

In all the pics that follow the OEM 2003 Bonneville Bucket is on the Left, 1999 Park Ave Bucket on Right

Differences in the way the strainer attaches to the Bottom

Tops are exactly the same

Height is exactly the same

Arrangement inside, only difference is the 1/8th hose that goes from the pump to the bucket to fill the canister

I had to purchase a new strainer, and this one is actually for a 2000 Chevy Blazer, but fits and works great.

Plus the old one had seen better days

so basically your using a pump that was designed for a 98-02 F body, made for a W body, in a Canister for a Buick Park Ave in a Bonneville......

I would think 99' L67 Park Avenues are getting hard to find. The PA venturi pump canister looks similar to my 2000 GTP except for the fuel-level float mechanism. Maybe all you need to do is transfer over the float and arm. Here are some pics of mine for comparison sake:

A couple tips on the Racetronix swap:

1. Make sure the hose clamp is super tight or else it will bleed off pressure. After key-on prime, it should hold 48psi or better for a minute. It took me a couple tries to get it to not bleed off including buying another hose clamp.

2. Replace the fuel canister o-ring, AC Delco G23, or else you'll get constant evap symptoms and large negative fuel trims. With a new o-ring, it may seem impossible to get the fuel canister seated again into the tank. Make sure the canister is square to the fuel tank and push real hard. Once seated properly, you shouldn't need to hold the pump down to insert to retaining C-clip.
