quick short race-97 accord and 01 mustang gt

this happened a while ago b4 my flexplate cracked.
went out with a few friends and was on the way back home on the freeway just playing around pacing each other around 1-2AM in the morning and not alot of cars out. one is a 97 honda accord SOHC Vtec 5-speed with CAI and a muffler and the other is an 01 Mustang GT also a 5-speed with a BBK CAI, 3.73gears, and just a flowmaster series muffler. and both drivers are brothers and very competitive with each other(somewhat large egos).

anyways we're on an open stretch 3-lane with the accord in the far left, the mustang in the middle and i was also in the middle following the stang but was at least 3-4 car lengths back. the brothers paces each other at ~65-70mph and i noticed they gunned it and started pulling away from me. well 1-2 second delay i got on it and followed suit. suprisingly the accord held its own and prolly by 110mph the stang was at least a car length on it only. i made up the 3-4 car length by 115 and was beside them, and by 120 i was going to pull on the stang but he and the accord braked and slowed down and called it quits . this was with the 3.1" pulley and ~19-20* of timing with cutout open FWIW. the accord and stang each had a passenger and i was alone.

cliff notes-accord and stang raced @65-70mph and i sarted behind 3-4 car lengths back. i made up the car lengths by 115 while the stang edged the accord by a car at 110. i would of pulled the stang by 120 b4 the race was over. both accord and stang each had a passenger(girlfriends).

edit-mods to the accord was a CAI and a muffler and the stang had a BBK CAI, 3.73gears, and just a flowmaster series muffler.

well he started behind them 3-4 cars. and didn't gas on it right away. to make up the head start that was pretty sweet. and with the honda, maybe it was a vtec from another car?

did you try posting a thread under the engine section? just click whichever engine you have and start a thread if you dont see an old one that answeres your question. you'll get better responses on that thread then on someones kill thread.

i would imagine the driver in the mustang prolly didnt downshift to the correct gear, giving the honda adequate time to run with him until it went higher into the speed.
