Questions about a new sound system for my 99 GTP

So I just bought a 99 GTP a couple weeks ago and noticed the bulb in my stereo is bad, and none of my front speakers work. I'm very new to the world of modding and I don't know much when it comes to electronics so I could use some advice. I would like to just install a whole new system because I would love something to connect my iPod to. I've heard far too many horror storys about battery drains and things of the sort though so i'd rather stick with something thats not too crazy. So stockish but a bit better. I apologize for my noobishness. Any suggestions/tips? We're all noobs once haha.

Have to scrap that OE radio man. They don't design them to last forever anyways. The radio is the culprit to your sound issue because its just two twisted together wires going to the speakers from the radio in these cars. unless there is a factory amp that i dont know about in these cars, maybe a upgraded factory audio system? like the monsoon system in the gt2. And if not the amp, its your factory paper cone weathered speakers.

To add to this, if you want a upgrade from stock without going to crazy just head down to your local radio shop. Those guys are good at what they do especially if they are MECP certified. A beakdown on what you would pay would be 60$ for installation parts and materials, 50$ for labor, and decks with decent features start at 100$. I was an installer for a few years before moving into construction for better money, and those prices are going to be very close. For a quality system i recommend alpine equipment. They may have less features like a pop out disco ball but alpine stuff lasts forever if taken care of!
