Question on single chain

Ok so i got a zzp transmission last summer (before i knew about 3ep) and got 3.29 gears, 4340 input shaft, and a 2500 stall. Only things i cheaped out on was getting the chrome moly pump shaft and a single chain. Question is... is it possible to upgrade to the single chain without pulling the trans? I'm just trying to get an idea on labor because when I got the trans done my mod "to do" list was pretty light. Since then I have changed it to s1x cam/headers/fs ic (just installed).

Also, when should I be worried about the stock dual chain giving in? It's new with the rebuild with 17000 miles on it. I try not to do any 3-1 downshifts, dont run slicks, and only go to the track about once a year. Thanks for the help guys!!!

The chain swap can be done in the car but working on it sideways can fight you going back together and make it quite the chore. Since your trans is only a year old I would think that you should have the stronger V8 style chain ( 093 ) in your trans as ZZP started advertising this a while back though you may want to ask them to verify this. Not usings slicks is safest for longevity with what you have so you arent putting as much stress on them. Street tires are a huge cushion and will help out

thanks for the reply guys. i wouldnt do the work myself as transmissions are wayyyy out of my comfort zone. i was just tryin to get an idea of how hard it is so i could get a ballpark of how much it would cost to get done. thanks for the tip trannyman, ill have to ask zzp about this. first ive heard about it. i got the trans done august of 08, so maybe it has the chain you're talking about. ASSuming its better than stock?

FWIW, i did my 4th clutch shaft out in the street, lol. It requires removal of the chain, had no problems going back together. But if you take it to a shop, they are going to rape you either way.

well maybe ill look into doing it myself, its just ive never done anything with transmissions before. zzp emailed me back and said they switched chains 2 years ago so i do have the 093 style chain. what are the limits of these?
