Question on Pioneer FH-X700BT install

My son wants a Pioneer FH-X700BT for Christmas for his 2005 GP GT. He says it will fit and work with the steering wheel controls. Are there special dash adapters or wiring harnesses to make this an easy install?
 


Yes. The harness you'll need is a GMOS-04 or -01 depending on your factory system, and a PAC SWI-x for the steering wheel controls, and a Metra 95-3527 for the bezel.
 
Crutchfield is saying I need the GMOS-01. They also have a PAC RP5-GM11 listed as well for the steering wheel control along with the Metra 95-3527 dash kit and a Metra 40-GM10 antenna adaptor. Sounds like I need both the GMOS and PAC harnesses for this install?

On edit, the Crutchfield chat advisor said I would only need the PAC RP5-GM11 and not the GMOS.

Yup correct

GMOS-01 is what you need if you don't have the monsoon system to use a aftermarket CD player with the stock system.

GMOS-04 if the car has the Monsoon system.

The pac adapter is to maintain the steering wheel controls .
 
The PAC SWI-x is just the universal one, which has worked on 3 different Pioneer units in my car so far. I'd get the specific one if the price is comparable.
 


Thanks for the input guys! I just ordered everything from Crutchfield since they were very comparable in price and shipping to Ebay.
 
So we installed the Pioneer FH-X700BT deck over the weekend in the '05 GP. Installed it using the Metra 95-3527 Dash Kit and the PAC RP5-GM11 Wiring Interface (to use the steering wheel controls) from Crutchfield (it included the antenna adapter as well). Everything went well and everything appeared to work ok. Now today my son starts heading down the road and all of his gauges quit working (except speedometer) and his traction control light comes on also. He brings it home and I disconnect the battery to maybe reset the computer. Seems to have worked so far. The only other thing I also did this weekend was R&R the driver seat to replace a bad heating pad but put everything back together and re-connected all the wiring harnesses and got that seat heater working. Anyone else have issues like this after installing an aftermarket deck?

Also, 1 other thing is that the date no longer works on the driver information center but that stopped working right away after the install. I'm thinking this has something to do with no longer having the stock deck?
 
You lose the date with any aftermarket radio, it's normal.

Nothing plugged into the ODBII port? Crappy devices or too many can cause that.
 
Nope. Car is bone stock, no mods (other than the 98-02 Camaro brakes mod). So you're saying maybe the Pioneer deck is maybe causing the electrical issue? Bizarre.
 
We have experienced a couple of times since the summer that the doors won't lock. I think I read on here that it could be the BCM going bad that causes that issue. Wonder if maybe the gauges doing this wonky thing is another sign the BCM might be on the fritz?
