Question about Factory Nav (06 GXP)

So I have a chance to buy a factory Nav unit but the seller says the GPS disc drive won't read, everything else does though. My question is, is there any fix to the drive issue or is it done for?
 


If you can get inside the unit, you'd have to replace the drive. Its just a DVD drive, so it would be just like replacing one on a desktop computer. That said, I haven't done it and I'm not completely sure about how to get access inside the unit. As long as you could get access though it seems like it would be pretty straightforward replacement.
