hey guys this question is somewhat hypothetical... however i was wondering, and this may be quite a stupid question, but can you put a viper autostart and alarm in a 2008 gxp, i bought the alarm for my 05 base model but never installed it and am about to sell my car to buy a 08 gxp and most gxps come with autostart already, however im guessing the viper unit would be a significant upgrade have longer range and add extra alarm security, however would it be difficult since there already is a stock unit or can you guys give any suggestions or input as to this situation?

here the viper kit

I have factory remote start in my 2005 GT and can start the car from around 500 feet. With the factory remote start comes content protection. If the car door is opened while the system is armed the alarm sounds.

Does the Viper do something differently or better? When I worked for a dealer, I can't tell you the number of aftermarket remote start and alarm systems I saw ripped out of vehicles because they interfered with the normal vehicle operation.

Generally aftermarket gives you a better range.. Usually half a mile to a mile vs the factory which usually isn't that great. Yes it will sound just like any of alarm if the alarm is armed but you have a wider range of extra sensors you can add on. Errors usually occurs from improper install. One thing about the factory system is if your CEL is on guess what.. Remote start won't work. Which can be a annoyance especially if it's something minor triggering the CEL. With aftermarket units you don't have this problem.

thanks for the responses guys! so theres no problem adding on an aftermarket one even if it has one from the factory?
