Pulley setup.

Ok so I know its probably been asked before......buuut......
I am new to GTPs. What is the advantages to running a 3.4 or 3.2 pulley over stock? I see its a common mod.
I am not very familiar with superchargers.

I also see "running a 3.4 and supporting mods." What exactly are the supporting mods?

Long story short.

Motor doesn't flow well.

Has a high RPM cylinder filling deficiency.

You need to increase flow.

Then you can spin the blower faster.

Motor = air pump.

More air in, more air out, more power.

Good times.

If you're stock. There's NO advantage running a smaller pulley.

In fact your stock pulley car probably already knocks on the order of 4-6* of timing reduction at wide open throttle.

Smaller pulleys spin the blower faster, making more boost. More boost without flow mods = more timing reduction and possibly chipping a piston.

Matt put it as plainly as it had to be put. Our motors already don't flow enough for a stock pulley.

blower spinning faster does not mean more boost.

It means its blowing more air into the manifold.

the motor not being able to keep up results in a pressure buildup in the intake manifold that we call "boost".

Ok, I am only planning on a CAI, and exhaust for mods at this point. I just dont know if I should bother with a smaller pulley or not.

Awesome.

Word of advice: Transverse 3800's sound poopy all the time.

So have a resonator/glass pack in the stock location and two turbo mufflers. Nothing louder or you'll most probably regret it.

He is doing headers, cat and magnaflows. I dont want it much louder than stock, just more free flowing and a little more aggressive sounding. I have noticed a few 3800s around that have that almost chugg mixed with fart sound I am prepared for to have a bit of that. But I definitely dont want to wake the neighbors when I fire the car up at 5am to go to work

If a resonator is needed still we will add one

SD headers with no cat, no res, and gutted mufflers sound like some pissed off hamsters and a 5b bag of rocks in a blender.

FYI. lol
