pulley drop question

Hey guys(and gals). I'm new to the forum and have a quick question. I have a 2005 GTP comp G. My current mods are XP cam, SSAC headers, custom FWI, t-stat, PRJ plug wires and various other non-critical misc mods. I am still running the stock supercharger pulley and have decided its finally time to drop to a smaller pulley, i want to go with the 3.4 mps, but do you think i could go smaller with the mods i have? Theoreticaly speaking what do you think is the smallest i could safely run(and tune) according to my mods?

i would buy a 3.4, 3.2, and 3.0 pullies. with a cam and headers you should be able to start off with the 3.4 and get it dialed in without knocking. you might be able to run the 3.2, but the 3.0 might need a little more work (intercooler). having a 3.3 or 3.1 would be useless as the differences wouldnt be that much, but you can try those out too if youve got money laying around. i always just had 3.4, 3.2, and 3.0 pullies.
 
It all depends on the tune but you could probably do a 3.4" right now. I would get some larger injectors before you drop down to a 3.2" pulley and that all depends on the tune also, once you scan you will know whats needed. I've tuned a cammed regal before that was non i/c with a 3.4" pulley on the genV, it ran a 12.8 in the 1/4 mile on that size of pulley and stock timing tables. I figured when we first started we should have been able to drop down to a 3.2" pulley and add 2-4* of timing but we ran into fueling problems, so you have to realize that not all cars are going to have the same results. Best way to find out whats safe is to scan and tune.

FoSHO, wow that is alot faster than i thought a 3.4 could achieve non-IC. Was that on a basic 3.4 setup?, did he have DR's? Spray? Meth-injection? I was only planning to get into the low-mid 13's and call it quits as i wouldnt feel very comfortable pushing the stock tranny(for now) any further, or did i underestimate these cars :eek:
 
I just asked him again to make sure, it was done on 3.3" pulley, genV, s1x cam, pacesetters. It was kind of a ****ty track day too, the best we got with slicks was a 2.0 60 ft. He ran consistent 12.8 sec 1/4 mile with a 2.0 60ft on stock timing tables.

We had bumped up the timing a few days before after getting the fuel where we wanted it, but after we filled the car up again with gas, we went out and hit about 10 degrees of knock, I think it was bad gas. So after we shiit ourselves I dropped the timing back to stock and the next day was track day. I'm trying to get him to switch to E85 now, the car should be 11 second capable, especially after seeing what it did at the track.
