Hey guys, lately my power steering pump has started to whine. A lot. And I've checked the fluid level a few times and it seems to be good. Before I replace the pump, my question is, is there a way to know that it's just the ps pump going bad, rather than something worse, like steering rack being messed up?

The whine has progressively gotten worse over the last couple of weeks, and there's nothing weird about the steering other than the whine, so I'm guessing its just the pump, but I just want to know what I'm dealing with before ordering parts.
 


my pump started to whine, i changed it and had no power, changed the rack and it al worked.

no way to tell what part is bad or going bad, all i can say is start with the heap part, aka the p/s pump.
