problems with new fuel rail gas line union..Please help grandma!!!

2001 grand prix 3.8L ( not super charged ) I purchased the quick connect kit for the gas line that connects to my fuel rail and purchased a union since I had to plice the line had someone help me with the union since I couldn't get it to seat right..now it leaks when I start the car.what I would like to know is it a pain in the ace to put a fuel line in instead of messing with these crappy unions that don't work.
