power window slash electrical question

For a while now my driver side window has been doing the typical gm window headache... sometimes go down and not go all the way back up yada yada....well the other day it went down and wouldn't come back up at all... I waited a lil while and still nothing.... so I took the switch apart and cleaned the contacts... still nothing... I tried using a jumper wire and still nothing so I figured it was the motor/regulator. I yank it all out. Out of curiosity I use my jumper wire on the regulator assembly on the floor and TADA!!! It works!!.... so I go back to the switch and I notice that using my jumper wire on one of the connectors my dash lights come on and occasionally my door chime. So is that a bad ground? bad switch? or both? or??? I'm starting to think Jeep had the right idea with zipper windows
 


put it all back together and it all works so I'm guessing I've got an electrical gremlin somewhere... just gonna have to remember to not roll the window down until I figure out what the issue is.
