Power window problem!

Ok so i replaced my power window motor and regulator about 2 months ago with a dorman one from autozone (dont know if that was the best move) and it worked fine til about a week ago when it started acting up again, going down a little then stopped then i waited and pushed the button a few seconds later and it would move a little more. Then i noticed the switch didnt feel like it was connecting to anything. It didnt click or have the feeling of the passenger side window switch so i order a brand switch off line and tried that and still no luck. If there anything else that might cause this that i can try before i go raise h*ll at autozone because my 150 dollar motor and regualtor is already junk?

I had this problem, also my HVAC controls acted up and failed to work on settings 1-4...also, from time to time the automatic headlights would fail. All of these problems, in my case, were attibuted to the ignition assembly. The part is about 150 bucks and my local dealer charged me nearly 275 in labor. From doing research, after you exchange the ignition switch assembly, ALL of your electrical gremlins should be fixed.
 
Have you tried cleaning your glass and then spraying lube on the felt guides inside the window channel? The felt likes to dry out and grab the glass causing the window to get stuck. It doesn't take much to do this either. I removed a sticker from my rear door glass from the prev. owner and it would stop because of the residue from that. Go figure. Cleaned it off, lubed the channels and all is well.
 
i found out my month and half old motor was bad alreday but i had a lifetime warranty so all is good now but thanks for the help.
 
What would you recommend to lube the felt guides? My driver side makes a screeching whine as I roll it up or down.
 
i've used graphite spray on my window tracks, and locks, it works real good. the oil sprays attract dust. but they do work, wd-40 and silicone sprays.

ill throw some trivia in the mix, anyone know what wd-40 stands for, and what its original purpose was?
 


WD-40:

Water Displacement, 40th Attempt ;)
Original purpose was to help prevent rust by displacing water (one of the things that helps to cause rust :p ).

If duct tape and WD-40 can't fix it, you might as well assume it's effed up.
 
spot on! iirc, it was the government who wanted it to prevent rust on bombs, and munitions, during WW2, and later they found out it worked well as a lubricant.

no prize, just proved you hold worth less trivia for no reason like my self lol

some how i think we both may watch to much history channel too. im a sucker for all those "how its made" and the history of this or that shows.

Haha, yep. Sometimes, walking past or hearing the tv, I will see one of those shows and just sit down to watch a few minutes. Then, half-hour or whatever later when it's over I'm left wondering what exactly I was doing walking past the tv in the first place... :th_scratchhead: . Of course, having gained nothing but more practically useless knowledge of some WW2 battle, or the first automobile or something along those lines.
