Power Steering Problem

I have an '08 Grand Prix GXP with the LS4. Has roughly now 95k miles, I drive a lot unfortunately. About a month ago it started whining under acceleration, but not under any turning. Ending up having a mechanic friend of mine change out the power steering pump with a re-man'd AC Del co one. Seemed like it got a bit quieter, but still there. Flushed the fluid completely and filled it with Lucas Stop Leak PS fluid. The problems occurred when it had about 93k on it. Mechanic friend assured me it was and still is the power steering pump, but like stated before it only does it under acceleration not turning, and it's not leaking any fluids either. Help is greatly appreciated, Thanks.

Transmission

Hows that fluid look? Has it ever been changed??

Maybe the mechanic doesnt know what he is talking about, if you put in new parts and the problem is still there.

Trans Fluid is good. It was changed from the dealer (supposedly), I got it about 5 months ago with 83k, said they did oil and filter, trans fluid, power steering, and checked everything else. I was going to in the next few weeks do all of those including coolant.

xXTeamArcticXx,

It sounds transmission related. This is just a suggestion, not a diagnosis. Have your dealer check it out next time you're there. Their certified technicians should be able to offer additional information after a physical inspection.

Keep us posted.
