Ported Exhaust Manifolds ?

yes you can! all you need is a dremel and a lot of the proper bits. I used a lot of sanding discs.....and wear a mask...the dust flies everywhere.

the front is a MUST! the rear there really isnt that much restriction.

^^^ I agree, it will get messy, plus you dont want to breath in all that crap. I did this to my gtp, and it worked well .till I got a crack in the manifold/crossover flange, so went with a Powerlog. Dont worry about the flange messing up, mine was a freak crack,(dont know how it happened...crappy metal)?

Ported Exhaust Manifolds - PEM's

As mentioned the rear is good enough. The front gain is likely minimal. Reason being, you can't get vary far beyond the openings. Imagine the tight rough regions beyond where you can see or gain access to.

Not to mention the main piping of the front is terrible small and you just can't port that. All of these are the reasons the Powerlog was developed in the first place.

gonna port match or gasket match em?

Ive done both, dremel is a must, so is a good painters mask. I have a P&P kit that has all the stones and abrasives you need, its over 20 years old but I havnt used em all up yet.

If you port the manifolds you might as well port the heads too, its not hard jsut very time consuming and you gotta be patient and have very good concentration.

thanks guys for all you replies i think i might just go with powerlog but i also haven't decided if i want ported exhaust manifolds or headers, i think i need to figure that out first and then go from there

look at the review for 08/20/08....that my review :th_thumbsup-wink: only thing is that a few days after the crappy paint started to flake off.

Talking about the ceramic coating? I ordered my Plog as a 304 stainless uncoated (since stainless holds heat decently on its own). My crossover is coated ceramic and still looks just fine.

Get some headers, if all else fails, get the powerlog. Don't bother taking of your manifolds and porting them. It's not worth it.

It wasnt the ceramic coating... was cheap black paint that they put on there.

Ah, okay. I'd heard about ZZP paint flaking, but I didn't know they painted the Plogs. I thought it was ceramic or bare.
