Pontiac installing junkyard XM receiver to enable PAC AAI-GM12 aux input device

I realized that my grand prix 04 does not have XM built in since I am in canada. Therefore, it seems like my installation of the PAC audio aux isn't gonna work as nothing has happened and my CD player has started reading "Player Error" after carrying out the installation. They say that you need either an XM slave unit or a external cd unit (not the 6 disc that I have).

My question is, is it possible for me to install a used XM receiver and unlock it? I don't know where it would go in the car tbh and I don't know if my car would have the harness pre-installed so I would just have to plug it in.

If anyone has any info I would really appreciate it. Im just tryna get this car to have an aux and its a pain in the ass. I do not want to install a double din aftermarket, I want to keep the base radio.

Any help is appreciated.
