You are correct by using the warning canceller you are canceling that signal for the high beam to fire at half power to form your DRLs. In the case of HIDs, since they do not have the ability to fire at half power the warning cancellers actually disables the function of the DRLs.

Since I have just the single bulb for high and low beam, the DRL's use that bulb, but at something like only half brightness. So I gather I would need the warning canceller? How would this affect my DRLs? would it basically eliminate them, or still allow them to operate? I live in Canada, so I need DRLs.
