Pinhole leak below EGR valve

I have a 2001 GP GT 3.8na as the post location indicates. I discovered a pinhole leak in the metal piece that the EGR and its adapter bolt up to. I need help identifying the name of this part, and also would like to know if it is "easily" replacable or if I would need to replace a major engine/exhaust component here. I have tried to add a picture with this post but I am out of town and using my Tab3 so it wont let me. I guess that will have to wait until I have access to an actual computer. Thanks.

You can download Tapatalk and then upload pics if you need too. If your EGR is leaking and your state has no emission regulation/inspection stuff you can just delete it.

Already got the emission test notice for Wisconsin...damn Scott Walker...lol, just blame all our problems on him. Anyways, I'm on my Talkatap app now, I'll try getting a pic in here...

Not sure on part number or anything, wondering if you could get away with sanding it smooth then trying to fill in the hole with rtv or something. Someone else would know, I'm assuming it would get too hot for the RTV and it would leak again. Its leaking from the metal part the EGR bolts onto right and not the stovepipe looking piece? Could always look in junkyards for one.

There is a "pull it yourself" junkyard about a 20 minutes North of me so I'll have to try that. I was trying to figure out what the part is called so I can also call some parts places and find out if I can get one new/OEM or if junkyard is my only option. Appreciate the info so far. Oh, and yes, its leaking from almost exactly where I started the little red line, about a half inch below that seal.

your getting a code for the egr?

junk yard would be the cheap way in sure. easy way to get it off is to unbolt the tubes from the manifold and the rear exhaust, take both tubes and the part under the egr.

try not to bend the tubes to much as they can break too.

Got a code, cant remember it exactly and dont have it in front of me as I'm out of town. While I was searching the engine compartment for vacuum leaks, I found this leak. Thanks for the advice on those tubes...

TMK it's the EGR base. To pull it at the yard, you'll want to bring a 10mm and a 13mm. Pull the tube to the LIM first, then the bolt from the back of the exhaust manifold to the tube, and the 2 13mm's that hold the egr to the head.

Don't for get the electrical connector.

Wow! Thank you for the detailed info. That will sure make it easy. Wont have to guess 3 different socket sizes before I get the right one...lol. I'm a little out of practice. Back when I was wrenching for a paycheck, it would have been no issue.

The egr tube to rear manifold is either a 10 or 13. Older stuff definately a 10.. newer seems to be a 13. That's the only reason you need the second socket. Enjoy

Well, the check engine light randomly turned off. So I gave it a couple days to make sure and took it for emissions. It passed. Unfortunately, I changed the oil in it and now it has a BAD tick from one of the lifters. Always something.

Previous owner did. I've been trying to read as much as I can to diagnose this myself. If it is a simple fix, I'll give it a shot bc I'm becoming really attached to this car. If not, I'll have to sell it and start hunting for a new one. Replacing lifters....guy w/basic shop experience, a garage and most basic tools....kind of job?

Can be..

Tell us more about.. I changed the oil and now I have a tick. Had you not changed the oil before, maybe not owned it long, changed it with a 0W oil?

Just bought the car 2 months ago. The previous owner said he changed the oil but this past weekend I was changing the oil on my other vehicle so I decided to do the GP too. I used 10W30. I'm guessing the thing had a tick before but the previous owner had some heavy oil in it or an addative.

Anyone thats following...a little help please. This sounded more like a lifter tick a week and a half ago. I had to leave and go out of state again so the cars been sitting. Here's what it sounds like under rev, poor video quality but sound is more important. Noise sounds like its coming from rear of motor, more on passenger side.
