i am reading threw my owners manual when i finally figured out what the button on the side of my shifter was for..... long story short is there any other way to tell if your car is in performance shifting or not i press the button but the light never perf shift light never comes on, and i know i have the option after all it has the button and i drive a 98 gtp, can anyone help ?

there should be a blue light in the upper left corner of the gauge cluster that says perf shift....depending on the light it can be hard to see... if its not lighting up then i dunno what to tell you

Its in ur instrument cluster on the left 98 is the only year its not in the DIC. There should be a blue light that tells u if its on or not unless the light is burned out.

ok i just went outside to check and no light comes on so i will assume that maybe the light is burnt out but there is an offset for the button it is either out or in you can tell a slight difference if anyone could tell me which offset it is suppose to be it would be greatly appericated

*ok sweet thanks for the help*

another question has anyone heard of a mod where you can just run your parking lamps and fog lights ? everytime i trurn my car on at night the sensor auto kicks the headlights on

You want to drive around at night w/o your headlights on? That will net you a ticket around here.

just to0 add to thus just cause the button is pushed in doesnt mean that the perfomance shift is on when i first got my car that button waaaas broken so i would take a multileter and test to see if that button isnt bad just to doulble check.

If you are really paying attention you should be able to tell if performance shift is on or not by how, and more specifically, when the tranny shifts. But it has been awhile since I had the stock PCM. With the Overkill it is really easy to tell. :th_biggrin2: Oh and if the button is in, perf. shift is on, and vice versa.

To answer your question about turning your headlights off while still having your fogs and markers on:

If you can get you headlight dial to stay between the "parking lamps" and "headlights" settings, there's a sweet spot (on mine, at least) where it turns the headlights off, but still leaves the parking lamps on, and if you have your fogs on, they'll stay on. It may or may not work for you, but It'll be worth a try.

Try pulling the fuse for DRLs, I think. Mine was out when I bought it. This will prevent the auto-headlights from coming on at dark. And you should be able to run your fogs without the headlights on.

if you push the button and you get some ohms then the button is good thats how i confirmed mine was no good.

ok cool taking out the drl fuse did the job i do not plan on driving at night with only fogs on, it's more for show when parked and what not, and also i figured out the per. shift thanks eveyone
