so i got a kenwood kdc-x696 hooked it all up everything seems to operate normal except i have no sound i hooked the harness up the best i could as per the instructions but it really doesnt say which wire to hook the Pcont wire up to im pretty sure thats the problem because with out it the amp wont turn on and if the amp dont turn on i have no sound right? i also have 3 left over wires in the harness 2 orange 1 blue the orange are labeled dimmer and dash illumination but the deck lights up fine so do i need them and the blue wire is currently connected the Pcont wire but like i said i have no sound everything else is matched to its corresponding color black to black red to red etc NEED HELP!

What do your directions say it should be hooked up to? Please don't say that you don't have directions, Kenwood's site would give you the radio side, the12volt.com would give you the car side.
Sounds like you may want to tell us what year you drive or we'll suggest you buy some $150 adapter you don't need for the incorrect model. You never know what not giving us information could yield.
Personally though..it's sounding like you need to hook power up to the amp. Which was teh one wire in that second connector which is now sitting all alone. That's a complete guess though. :th_winking:

its a 2002 gtp and the pcont is supposed to turn the amp on and according to my hanes maual the wire is pink but i cant find a pink wire in the stock harness and the 12 volt dont give me **** lol unless i didnt look hard enough theres nothing in that site that is the least bit helpful. i contacted a friend of mine whose a profesional installer and he said it goes to the blue wire which i had it hooked up to but i looked closer this morning and for some reason the terminal that the blue wire connects to there is nothing on the factory side so its going no where
no theres a labeled wire for that lol
