Im new to this forum, but have been in other forums as well.I lost my ignition key for my 06 GP g/t and the passkey relearn thing is kicking my ___! First off with the new key in the ignition the security light never blinks @ all and the warning on the info center never changes.Starting disabled due to theft! The Instruction paper the dealer gave me didn't work and many other procedures I read online either! Now the battery is drained. Now its on my battery maintainer.I decided to come to Pontiac forums because most people have experience!!! HELLLLPPPP please:th_yawning:

[h=3]10-Minute Relearn Procedure[/h]Use this procedure after replacing the following components:
The PASS-Key III (PK3) keys

The BCM

The PCM

  1. Important: If replacing a BCM with a GM SPO replacement part, perform the procedure to setup a new BCM prior to the 10-Minute Relearn Procedure. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle in Vehicle DTC Information.
  2. Connect a scan tool to the vehicle.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Insure that all power consuming devices are turned OFF on the vehicle.
  5. With a scan tool, select Request Info. under Service Programming System and follow the scan tool on-screen instructions.
  6. Disconnect the scan tool from the vehicle and connect the scan tool to a Techline Terminal with the current Service Programming System (SPS) software.
  7. On the Techline Terminal, select Service Programming System and follow the Techline Terminal on-screen instructions.
  8. Disconnect the scan tool from the Techline Terminal and re-connect the scan tool to the vehicle.
  9. With a master PASS-Key III key, turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
  10. With a scan tool, select Program ECU under Service Programming System.
  11. At this point the scan tool must remain connected for the duration of the 10-Minute Relearn Procedure.
  12. Observe the scan tool, after approximately 10 minutes the scan tool will display "Programming Successful, Turn OFF Ignition". The vehicle is now ready to relearn the key information and/or the passwords on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to ON.
  13. Turn OFF the ignition and wait 5 seconds.
  14. With a master PASS-Key III key, start the vehicle. The BCM has now learned the key transponder information and the PCM has now learned the fuel continue password.Important: Perform this step ONLY on vehicles with EXPORT configured BCMs.
  15. Turn OFF the ignition and wait 15 seconds minimum.Important: Perform this step ONLY on vehicles with EXPORT configured BCMs.
  16. With a second master PASS-Key III key, start the vehicle. The BCM has now learned the second master PASS-Key III key transponder information
  17. With a scan tool, clear any DTCs.
[h=3]30-Minute Relearn Procedure[/h]Use this procedure after replacing the following components:
The PASS-Key III (PK3) keys

The BCM

The PCM

  1. Important: This procedure is not available on vehicles equipped with option code (Z49).
If replacing a BCM with an GM SPO replacement part, perform the procedure to setup a new BCM prior to the 30-Minute Relearn Procedure.
  2. With a master PASS-Key III key, rotate the ignition to the CRANK position.
  3. Observe the SECURITY telltale. After approximately 10 minutes, the telltale will turn OFF.
  4. Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds.
  5. Repeat steps 1-3 two more times for a total of 3 cycles or 30 minutes.Important: The vehicle learns the key transponder information and/or passwords on the ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK. You must turn the ignition OFF before attempting to start the vehicle.
  6. With a master PASS-Key III key, start the vehicle. The vehicle has now learned the key transponder information and the PCM has now learned the fuel continue password.
  7. With a scan tool, clear any DTCs.

that is one of the many steps I have tried,I dont have a scan tool nor the finances to take this to a dealer, plus towing! Chevy gave me the 30 minute relearn steps too and the theft light on the info center never went out after so many minutes.

you prolly have other issues if it wont light up and its not in the dic your looking its the securtiy light in the dash

just hung up with dealer and the procedure should work.he told me to pull neg.terminal couple mins and try again.so here goes nothing.hopefully this works

... When learning a new pk3 key you insert the valid one turn it to ignition immediately turn it off and insert the new key on and then off.

I think that's what your trying to do right? Just add a key? If so thats all there is too it

this is a master learn.I lost my original key.The procedure still didnt work even after pulling negative terminal for a minute.sledgehammer.......

cheapest way to do this if your stuck, is to call a auto lock smith. they can re program keys and fobs for 1/2 what a dealer wants, and they come to you.

Yeah unfortunately if you can't get it going a tech2 can do it with ease.

This is all I've ever done when learning a new theft deterrent module or programming new keys on the pk3 systems

Alright so I'm adding to this topic cause I don't wanna create a new one. My buddys 08 or 09 g5. He lost his key and had a new one made and he tried to do the program thing listed above but he did it wrong. Well his key is stuck in the ignition...anyone know how to remove that so I can try the correct way to do it listed above

For the 30 minute relearn step 2 says turn to CRANK but the directions from the dealer say turn to ON each time. Dealer directions didn't work.

I screwed up the 30 minute relearn once, can I just try it again or what?

Any one have clarity on each of these issues?

I screwed up the procedure the first time and the second time I did the procedure correctly and it didn't work. I pulled the negative terminal for 10 minutes in hopes of clearing the system.

Reconnected the battery and did the 30 procedure by the dealer instructions and it worked!

A couple things to note, I wouldn't turn the lights off as that may have caused an issue on my 2ND try; if you screw up disconnect the battery for 10-15 minutes.

I'm not sure why some of the instruction online state turning to CRANK each time but my directions said turn to ON and it eventually worked when I didn't right.

Hopefully this update can help someone.
