Passenger Door won't open with either the inside or outside handle

I have a 1994 Pontiac Grand Prix Coupe and about 2-3 months ago, the passenger door quit opening. Every now and again it will open but it will only a couple times and then it won't open. I have heard that one of the only options is to pull the passenger seat out and then take the door panel off but I would rather not do that since there are screws you can't reach when the door is closed. Is there anyone who has had this problem and figured out how to get it open without taking it in to get it fixed? Thanks in advance
