A cylindrical piece of what appears to be the "top" of the resonator shield fall off after I ran over a speed bump. Should I bother to fix it? I don't have to get exhaust inspections where I live, so I wouldn't need it for that. I don't remember it remaining in place when I put the new exhaust on my Imp, so I don't really know if I need it.

Meh. There isn't one on my Impala, and I've drive that for 11 hours with only 15-20 breaks. No fire. With any carpet in my GP the floor gets nice a toasty, but I consider that a bonus in the winter. :D

It doesn't keep the car from catching on fire...its just a heat shield...people run them all the time without a shield on X-Pipe'd RWD cars...right under the center console like ours and you don't see their cars catching on fire...its alright. A lot of people actually get rid of them if the catback is off.

That's what I figured. I ripped the carpet out when we had a bad rain storm a few years ago, and never bother to replace it. That floor just gets very hot to the touch. The carpet works as a good interior insulator, so you don't feel it in the car with carpet. My guess is if it got hot enough to keep the car from catching fire, I'd already have passed out from heat stroke inside the car. I may go find some cheap outdoor carpet to put on the back hump, but otherwise I don't care. It's my commuter car, so no biggie.
