Parking break light comes on?

In the morning when i start up my car my parking break light comes on. I never use the parking break because i don't really trust it, it usually goes away once i break fairly hard, anyone have an idea why this might be? Car is a 99 gp gt

Maybe the park brake shoes are sticking or are moving around.

I would take the rear brakes apart, clean up everything and throw em back together to see if its fix.

Also check your brake fluid level, that can trip the light.

My parking brake light stayed on after working on my rear brakes untill i dc the battery to reset the pcm.

Low brake fluid will cause the light to come on.

Just fixed same symptom on friends car. In his case the float in master cylinder was stuck down and only needed a tap.
