Painting Fiberglass SD Ram Air Hood

New to the forum, and new to GTPs. (kinda a dodge guy) have a 01 gtp midnight blue color. I picked up a nice SD hood off CL that is painted flat black, not sure if its primer or not it was painted like a green under the black, but is in real nice shape and couldn't beat the price. I called around and everyone wants over 500 to paint it. I didn't know if I could color match and sand/base/clear it the right way or if anyone has. I never messed with fiberglass before and was not sure if I should do some more calling or any if someone knows somewhere here in southern MI area. Any feedback is great. THANKS

Id keep calling around. Unless the fiberglass needs repairing or anything shouldn't cost that much to sand/base and clear it. Better yet id stop by those places and get a more accurate quote. Guys tend to quote higher over the phone assuming that whatever you need painted requires more work then you provided.

It was 300 here when I painted my old hood. There is always work involved on aftermarket hoods to get then looking right and the shop is not sure what is involved. So a 500.00 over the phone estimate seem right.

Yea I will do some more calling, I may sell or trade it the car needs a few more things before a hood, but I don't know may sleep on it for a while, thanks

Ya it cost me about 450 to paint my inferno hood top and underneath...so that sounds about right... it really depends like Red said how much work needs to be done first before they spray it

I went to 1 day and they painted my MPD F1 hood for $350. They did a decent job. My brother took his MPD F1 hood to a better shop and he paid $500.
