so i did everything everyone on here told me to do and i still have a line between new and old paint, i wetsanded between coats and everything and no im out of paint. im honestly considering a maaco job just to look better than this. it doesnt even look that bad to others but i refuse to drive something that doesnt look as good as i think it should. What the hell else can i do to get rid of this damn line? no paint left so what? letting it dry for a day or two and buffing/polishing? idk :(

the wheel well was rusted so i sanded it and used bondo, the paint is a perfect match its just i have an ugly line between old and new and idk man :/

... am I reading this that you didn't blend it at all? Just taped it off and painted and didn't account for old paint being faded. Wet sanding won't fix that, old paint is old. Need to have blended it over so you don't notice it and then wet sanded, buffed/polished and rewaxed to match.

well after sanding it back down with 400 grit and priming, painting, and clearing along with wetsanding again it looks alot better no line at all. How long do I wait before I buff it? and what do you guys recommend using?

I think there will always be a line unless you paint the hole panel. When I got rust repaired on my car under the gas cap the shop painted the hole quarter panel.

its basically already matching really well but what im asking is how long do i wait before i can buff it to help blend it even more? im not driving it for a few days but i dont want to wait a month before being able to buff/wax it

all you have to wait is over night. when the paint or clear is dry you can wet sand it. you buff the clear right after the you finish wet sanding.

any liquid compound will work, turtle wax is cheap and works well. using a buffer will make the shine come out better, but by hand will also work, its just a lot of elbow grease.
