Pads & rotos getting too hot?

My front brakes 2000 GTP were squeaking bad when applied - the pads were cracked and the rotors were under spec so I just replaced my pads and rotors with autozone duralast cmax ceramic pads and duralast rotors - not the cheap ones. The pads seemed to be pretty tight on the rotors and when I took the car out for a test drive I have good pedal pressure and no squeaks but could smell burning after I stopped. I drove about 5 miles. I shot the pads and rotors with a temp guage and it reads 240. Is there a breakin period for new rotors/pads or do I have a problem?

The calipers were already replaced about a month ago.

Thanks-

They DO have break in and 240 is high now?

The brake fluid i'm putting in my car when WET boils over at 311* F, and thats just dot 4...

something like get up to 40 brake to 20 back up to 40 back down to 20 type deal I never do it but its something along those lines

I just broke in the same setup on my GXP. 50mph to 10mph fairly hard about 8 times without stopping. then normal driving 5min to let the brakes cool (try not to apply the brakes or stop durring this period and your set. You'll get a burning smell, its normal.

Just get on them hard a few times to burn off whats left of the coating. That is all you have to do to break them in. .

Yeah I just put in some Hawk Ceramics and I had to do some hard stops from 45 and 50 to break mine in and I smelled them too I guess its normal.
