P0753 Shift Solenoid A Error and no low beams.. please help its dark!

I purchased a 2007 from auction and have since come to realize the car's low beams are not working at all (fog and hi's work) and the check engine light went on. When looking at diagnostic info, I was told that the error was P0753 Shift Solenoid A (electrical). I am wondering if the same incident has happened to anyone and if so if it was a wiring malfunction or just coincidentilly the two are both malfunctioning. When taking off from a start, it is starting from 2nd or 3rd gear meaning the solenoid is not working properly. This is kiling my gas mileage and making me worried as a new owner. Any information is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
