Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

P0730 on my 97 GTP - Tranny DOA

Yesterday, the car started shifting funny on the way to work--no previous problems whatsoever. On the way home, it was driving along on the highway at around 4K and took a long time just to get up to 65mph. Off the exit ramp, things got worse and it refused to even go any further, so I had to park it at a local tavern.

At this point in time, if you turn the car on, it'll run through the gears and engage without a problem. But after running for 30seconds to a minute, you'll lose everything and have no gears. You can turn the car off and then back on and it's fine again for another 30seconds to a minute.

It's currently throwing the above-mentioned code.

In the next day or so I'll try and get her on a scanner and see what all the readouts are. But until then, I'm hoping someone can offer some advice on the problem. I'm hoping it's a VSS or something, but right now I'm expecting the worst.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated--thanks, guys!!

The Incorrect Gear Ratio code can be set any time the pcm is commanding X gear range and it does not see the gear ratio it wants to see, such as in 3rd gear it wants to see 1.00:1 and if this is not the current actual ratio the code will set. If it was just a matter of that code and dropping gears or erratic shifting I would say maybe a speed sensor or reluctor wheel issue, BUT this will not cause you to lose all ranges. You should always have 1st gear from a stop, or at least some movement from a stop starting in 2nd or 3rd if there is an electrical problem. Losing all movement sounds more like a plugged up filter, slipping input clutches for various wear related reasons, or even a slipping forward band. If you pull the shifter down into 1st gear range does it help or act the same? I would drop the pan and cut open the filter to see how it looks inside and then go from there.
