P0530 code, 2001 GP

My brothers 2001 HP with a 3.1, the ac isnt working. It has code P0530 ac pressure sensor circuit. I told him it could be the sensor on the line. He replaced it, and still not working. I got to spend a little more time looking at it and with my scan tool, it shows no voltage for the a/c pressure in the data stream. Plus according to the scan tool I can see the head unit is requesting the a/c be turned on. Used my power probe to check the connector, its a 3 wire, I only had a ground on one, the others had nothing. Browsing over the diagnostics all signs were pointing to a PCM since I have no voltage at all. a/c is charged of course and I can jump the compressor relay and the compressor comes on. Any other quick checks he should try before he puts a PCM in. And if he gets a junkyard PCM can he just plug it in to try or will it need to be programmed/vin updated? He was also wondering if putting a junkyard one and it doesnt fix it will putting the original PCM back in not mess things up? Im a chrysler tech, but I dont know how GM is with PCM/VIN programming. thanks

http://engine-codes.com/p0530_chevrolet.html is the system charged properly? if not the hi pressure switch wont tell the compressor to come on.

as far as the pcm, if it comes out of the same year car with the same engine it should work, will likely need a security learn. thats easy and free tho.

the vin wont match, but that only matters if you have inspection. it can be changed with a tuner program. like DHP.
