P0440 / slight miss, Any thoughts?

My 01 GTP has developed a SES light that comes on when my fuel tank gets low and then if I fill it up, it goes away after a few start and stops. The code reader spit out P0440 which I've seen as EVAP controls and gas cap. So I'm thinking that it might be time for a new gas cap but apart from that the car also has a slight miss at idle that seems to be only when the ca is at operating temperature. I've noticed it at stop lights and sitting in traffic but it is so slight that it doesn't throw a missfire code and the tach doesn't even respond but I can feel it. It's almost as if the guy beside me has his stereo turned up so I can hear it. The car just rolled 100k and the original owner for 93k of those was a little old lady so the car has not been beat on. I recently replaced the plugs and wires with MSD wires and 606 plugs as it is stock for now. After reading some of the P0440 problems I'm wondering if I have a vacuum leak of some sort but it's wierd that the SES light comes and goes with the fuel level. Also where is this canister that might need a new sensor?

It sounds like a small vac. leak and possiblty the purge solenoid on the evap canister is junk. Could also just be a cracked vac. line leading to it as well.

The canister is located in the drivers side wheelwell behind the splash shield. Pull the shield and take a look. The purge solenoid should be on top of the canister IIRC.

If that doesn't help, take a look at this thread.

I plan on buying a new purge solenoid but is it a dealer only part? Also I just drove the car to Myrtle Beach and back and after hours of driving we stopped for lunch and it did not want to restart. I gave it a slight amount of gas and it started and ran fine. Now this afternoon, I went to leave for lunch and it did the same thing. Once I applied gas it started right up. Could something else be causing these issues?

It's not a small leak, that has a different code. Go to a junkyard and get a solenoid i guess, it sounds like it is plugged to me, but im no expert.
