p0401 EGR Insufficent flow

Mirraco

One BadAzz GT Dawgg
Havn't posted in awhile here. I been able to wing it so far. I bought a 2000 GTP from a auction for 500$, 10 miles from home I lost OD and 4th gear, so that one sits.

I ended up buying a different 2000 GTP, 180k miles on it. My sister drove the car for a couple thousand miles while I worked on get G6. She ran 87 octane in it, im not sure if this is related or not.

It all happened yesterday. I been driving the car to and from work, and its been driving really good. I took it into town, its a 25 mile drive to town. Soon as i hit town, I get a exhaust smell. I remember thinking "i hope thats not my car".

Well, apparently it was. When I started to go from a stop the engine was running REALLY rough. I turned around and made my way home. The car had little to no power, getting up to 60 flooring it, it took probably 5-8 seconds. Engine does have codes for o2 sensor, and crank sensor(would have to double check the code) but I do not think that is related.

Now, I went ahead and took the EGR off the other GTP thats tranny blew out on me, and it didn't fix the issue. I am going to try the MAP sensor. I unplugged the MAF sensor and it didn't help me. Im not sure where to turn after the EGR off the other car didn't help me. Im going to try MAP sensor, then the fun will begin I suppose.

Your EGR either has carbon buildup on the valve or the hoses are blocked. This is most likely the cause of the O2 sensor code as well.

You can either waste time trying to get the EGR operational, or bypass it and have someone with a tuner delete the codes.

every time I had the egr insufficient flow code it was because there was an actual blockage in the egr system. at the time I had the code I was running an intercooler, and I had used too much rtv to seal the intercooler to the lower intake manifold and the supercharger. I would recommend taking the throttle body off and disconnect the egr tube then take a pipe cleaner and see if there is a blockage in there someplace.
