• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

We bought my wife's 2001 GT new and have never owned a more reliable vehicle. So, of course, GM stopped making them. :th_laugh-lol2:

Recently, it got very sluggish and wouldn't upshift unless we backed off on the accelerator, so I figured the CAT was plugged.

We kept the GM letter that came out in 2005 about CAT replacement, and sure enough it was still honoured. My wife's car has only 120,000 km on it, and it's covered until 190,000 km. And the ten year coverage period doesn't arrive until this June. A new CAT was installed free by our local Chevy dealer last Friday. :th_thumbsup-wink:

No rust. No other mechanical issues in 10 years. The only thing it needs right now is a light bulb in the radio and an EGR (P1404). Not bad, I'd say. Thanks GM.

Everything we own is GM, including a 1976 Bonneville and a Corvette I bought new. There's a couple of others in the stable too and I do most of the work on them all.

One more thing. Although we dealt with a Chevy dealer for years, my wife wanted a Grand Prix, so we were able to buy it new through the Chevy dealer. Although that's common now with the amalgamated dealership network, it was pretty rare in 2001.

This looks like a very helpful site for the Grand Prix. See you around.

Right on. Nice lookin Vette. Me Likes :D Whats under the hood, and whats behind the powerplant?

Jay

Thanks. The original 427 and Muncie 4-speed sits in the shop. A ZZ-502 (8.2L) occupies the hole. A Richmond 5-speed manual rides behind the 502. It keeps up with traffic. :th_biggrin2:

Hey, this is a great site. I already found two threads on replacing the GP stereo light. My wife is tired of not knowing the time or which station she's on.

Looks like a real easy fix.

Lol. Mine is out in my 98 as well. Bought it that way. Its just a car for my GF to get her license with. Once she gets her license I think we will just drive the prix into the ground..its getting tuff. The rear strut towers have already been glassed over by the previous owner, the rockers have been replaced, but not done right. The rear quarter is full of bondo and all wavy.. the seam on the bottom side of the car where you are saposed to be able to put a hoist under is very very very soft....she's just a hurtin unit..but runs awesome..251,xxx on the ticker now.

Darlington would be much nicer if there wasn't a sewage plant on one side and a nuclear power plant on the other :D

Welcome!
