Hey everyone. hopefully i put this in the right spot, if not let me know. I just recently did a topswap on my 97, everything went well....but how do i get more boost. The factory gauge only goes up about 3 or 4 lines at full throttle, i hooked up a boost gauge and it only hits 4 if im lucky, can someone please help me fix this..:th_laugh-pointup:

hey, thanks for the reply. Ive got it hooked up and i think correctly... and ive tried adjusting it up and down but that doesent seem to make a differance..? how many lines should appear on the factory boost gauge if its working properly?

take off the computer control of the BBV and leave the lower vacuum line off of it and open. end your vacuum lines at the FPR. you will not have full boost.

thanks ,but i dont quite understand you.. if i leave it open will it help me get full boost cause its hooked up now and i dont have full boost?? sorry im a newbie to the boost thing:th_laugh-lol2:

The GT PCM isn't calibrated to read boost correctly. I"ve found this out on a couple of cars lately....that is if you are using a GT PCM.... Maybe I'm misunderstanding the topswap part.

yes, the GT pcm cannot control the BBV correctly. leave the wiring off that goes to the PCM and remove the lower vacuum line from the BBV. it will then run off vacuum alone and you will get full boost, but the PCM will no longer be able to cut boost on shifts or torque management which isnt a big deal so long as you get it tuned so it doesnt bite you in the ass later.

Hey bio248, could i put a 3.4 inch pulley on , the mods i have are tuned pcm, cold air in fenderwell, colder plugs and a 180 thermostat, is there more i would have to do?? thanks

no. do not put a smaller pulley on yet. you need some exhaust work first. you need at least a 3" downpipe to even think about a pulley. just think of it this way: to put more air in the engine you need a way for it to get out, right?
