Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Old School Audio Build

2003 SSEi

New member
just posting some pics of what I have been tinkering with over the past few months. As most of you know I don't drive the car so I finally decided that I needed a cool show setup for my Audio gear

The parts list is as follows

OEM GM Nav Radio
Type RF X162s comps
Type RF X152s comps
Type RF T168s comps
Type RF X2 Amps
Type RF X4 amps
Type RF X7 amps
Power HX2 Subs

Some of this gear is over 10 years old....circa 2003, and is actually better than the new gear out there.

Anyway

the Crossovers are huge and I was able to hide them in the doors. OF course I had to make brackets and such to do this

I also wanted the install to appear stock (now I know the OEM locations are not for a SQ but for a convenience of the automaker) so you have to make some sacrifices

Here is the tweeter install

Stock

What I chose to do

For the rear doors I did some additions.

Right here is the point of no return, there is now a hole in the door panel

I used a OEM speaker grill from the front tweeter

and it matches the OEM rear speaker Grill

Bracket for the Tweeter

I Chose a pretty good location for the rear crossovers

and to the Grand Finale

Trunk Install

This is a throw back to my 93 that had a similar install. Unlike the Interior install I wanted this one to be over the top.

did some planning with the carpet and it all seems to work

so on with production

False floor starting

Side Panels starting

Rear Wall Starting

Side Panels cut

Rear wall cut and fit

Coming together

Carpeted Parts

And the Final product

Awesome install. I think you should change the thread title to draw in more attention. "Best looking audio install on GPF" or something similar LOL

Why 6, how are you feeding everything?

Next car could be up there with a beastly build as well.

There on the Trunk lid are (2) Two Channel Amps feeding the rear deck speakers

In the Trunk there is (2) Mono Channel Amps Feeding the subs and (2) Four Channel Amps feeding the front and rear doors

The 2 channel do ~100RMS a Piece
The 4 Channel do 536RMS and 539RMS a Piece
the Mono Amps do 1790RMS and 1806RMS a piece

Interior components are good for 100 RMS each and will handle more
the HX2's are good for 1000RMS with a 2000 peak and have been proven to handle way more
