• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Ok on to the next domino of repairs

Well many of you know the many issues ive had with this 97 grand prix that ive owned for a very short time. I am about ready to get something else. Although now it is running fairly decent again. I still havent been able to get the crankshaft sensor replaced(one guy tried but the harmonic balancer was on so tight he couldnt get it off, so im gonna have to wait for someone with a torque wench). Anyway now one of the issues ive discussed has decided to rear its ugly head even more. So now im forced to fix it because im not in position quite yet for the other car. I was getting this tearing noise when i was pulling into parking or turning from a stop. Most of you guys quickly suggested it was in need of replacement wheel hub assembly. This in itself is not terribly expensive however are there other issues i should be aware of like the cv joints? Had noticed when i had wheels off that the lower control arm bushings were totally wore out so if i kept that car this was gonna have to be done too. Im quite sure every bushing(like in the sway bars) are totally worn. But right now i need to fix only the most urgent. The tearing noise is getting loud and used to be when turning wheel one direction but now makes noise in either direction. Im still undecided about what im eventually gonna do with this car, it could still make a good backup vehicle.

Hi again Spider,

Save yourself some time and money for what it is going to cost to get the bushings done you can get a complete Lower control arm (LCA) from moog takes less time and money to swap the whole thing out plus the arm has a brand new greasable ball joint in it. I just put them in mine about a year ago and it was easy (almost fun actually) and made a huge difference sway bushings are cheap and a snap to replace as well remove two bolts on each side (you can do one side at a time you do not have to remove the bar ) take the old bushing of (its is hinged just unhinge it ) put new one on same way you are done. Stabilizer links are also simple you unscrew one bolt pull out old link put in new no matter how non mechanical you are you can do them yourself. As for the tearing sound not sure would have to hear it.

Bushings are only 10 dollars a peice. All you have to do is find a shop to push the old bushings out and the new ones in. One shop only charged me $10 or $15...and he brought them to my house when he was done. If your on a budget, just buy new bushings.

Hell yeah that's good when I wanted to get it done they wanted $35.00 to put the bushing in plus I needed ball joints he want $35 to install those too plus the price of the joint for $89 I got a whole new arm
